CONVENTION 2011--- JAN. 21-23  SOUTHFORK HOTEL. Block it on your calendar NOW !!
Membership VP, Eddy Smith
requests that as you travel about this year, when you come across an artist (good, quality artist) that you believe would be a great addition to our association, get their business card, chat them up about what a quality association the GMAA really is.. and encourage them to join.  If you really believe in them.. tell them you will 'SPONSOR' them.  Send their info to Eddy Smith, he will contact them and try to entice them to become part of the GMAA family. Oh yeah.. sponsoring will not cost you anything !  It might do the opposite!!  hmmmm. More details later!    eddy@thegmaa.com is his e-mail address.

We always need volunteers.... Since we no longer have a Host/Hostess position we are looking for a few members who would be willing to assist when and where you can. We don't have that many events where food is served, but prior to Convention we need some of you to step up and offer some assistance in helping with the Hospitality Room.  Even if it is only for an hour..  The "Git it done" team needs you. We will discuss this more in future notices.

NOW........ print this and share it with everyone in your group
.  You cannot believe the number of times that we hear " I didn't know about that"  from members of groups.  Seems that one person gets the e-mail.. then reads it and deletes it without sharing with other members of the group.  Quit being a piggy and make sure that your group members are informed as to the news from the GMAA.   Sadly, I have even had soloists tell me the same thing... I just don't understand that !!

OK.. now hit the PRINT button and then SAVE this in your GMAA e-mail folder. God bless you and know that we love and appreciate all of our artists and fans as well.   See you at Rodeo City Music Hall on Friday, MAY 7th. at 7:30   Joe Gordon will have another great program.

Wayne Delk
( totally responsible for this message )

Thank GOD for the leadership of Larry & Cheryl Mays, Pat Jones and Eddy Smith.
What would the GMAA do without them?

Are you ready for good news?

We have lots of good news to share with you. Besides the fact the God is still in charge and our Savior is still Lord of Lords and that we are a chosen people who are near and dear to the heart of Jehovah God... Well, we have more news!

As we count down the days to GMAA Convention 2010, we can report that everything is coming together. Pat Jones, Cheryl Mays, Larry Mays, Eddy Smith and Wayne are working many long hours with the logistics of making sure that you have the most anointed, spiritual and enjoyable convention ever.

The Southfork Hotel reports that room reservations are coming in faster in December after a slow November. If you have not made you reservations, please do so now! Call today – 972-578-8555 Be sure to ask for the special GMAA convention rate of $69.00 per room. That’s right, you can pack a quartet into one of those rooms for $69.00 Reservations should be made before January 3rd. 2010 to ensure that rate. They already have reservations from as far away as Mississippi.

The news of the resignation of our Hostess, Cyndi Livingston saddened us.

We had just completed an insert sheet for the packets you receive when you register at the convention. In that was a big paragraph praising all of the hard work, long hours and great dedication that Cyndi and her helpers contribute year after year. We do owe her a great debt of gratitude for the marvelous job she has done in the past. Now, we start scanning the membership to find someone that would like to assume the position of Host or Hostess. If you are interested, please tell one of your Officers or call Cheryl Mays at 903-450-0256. Cyndi, we will miss you.

CHRISTMAS ON THE LAWN- We trust you had a chance to get by and support Ron & Cyndi along with His Call as they once again present their annual outdoor singing at 4410 Meadowview Dr. In Mesquite. So many of the GMAA artists come by and sing in the cold each year. Hundreds of cars stop each night to hear the gospel in song.

TO CONCLUDE- We are going to have a great convention. Please come prayerfully, expecting God to enrich your life and your ministry as you go forth in the new year. Remember as ministers, when you stand accused use the Jesus formula..” He spoke not a word.” Opposition will come but it will not stay., and… If you are busy rowing the boat, you don’t have time to rock the boat. SEE YOU AT CONVENTION !!

Always visit www.thegmaa.com for news.

HOW TO GET THE MOST FROM CONVENTION

First, go find your Convention Packet that you received a couple of months ago. Look for the yellow sheet that has the Convention schedule on it. Plan your schedule. *in case you cannot find the packet.. We have the schedule on our website.

BANQUET RESERVATIONS- Please mail those as soon as possible. We must give the chef a verified head count as of January 15th. If at all possible, mail your reservations before January 1st. You can also use Pay Pal on our website to send us payment, if you choose.

THE MIXER- Following the Saturday morning service, we have an hour that you do not want to miss. If you are a new member this is a must attend, so you can get to know other members. All members are asked to bring a pocket full of business cards to hand out. This year we are planning a game show for your enjoyment. Last year was such a hilarious time, we ran over almost 45 minutes.. But no one cared !

HOSPITALITY ROOM- There will be a few minor changes this year. We will do our best to insure that our artists have access to some good food items after the evening concert. Did you know that the budget for the hospitality room is the one single largest expenditure of convention? There will be more information found inside the packet you will receive when you register with Cheryl at convention. As usual, she will be stationed near the ballroom entrance.

WHAT IS THE GMAA DOING NEXT YEAR ???

Our first event comes the Saturday night prior to convention, on January 16th. At 6 PM.

This is going to be a real treat. Our friend, Keith Reed contacted us about working with Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville to produce a concert in their chapel. Roselawn is presenting a “Concert for Seagoville” and chose three of our artists who headquarter in Seagoville. They are working with the Chamber of Commerce and other agencies to promote the concert. They selected The Jubil-Heirs, Trusting Hymn and Mercy Song for the concert. We hope that many of our GMAA members will attend and support this event. There may be more to come at Roselawn. Remember, the chapel only seats 200.. So don’t late or you might be in one of the viewing rooms !!!

SHOWCASES for 2010- Work is proceeding on all five of our showcases. Here are the dates;

FEBRUARY 20TH. will be at Woody Road Church of God in Seagoville. MercySong will host.

April 17th. No venue for this date. We hope to make this our ‘Ladies Night’ concert again.

June 19th. will be in Greenville, Tx. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church and THEOS will host!

August 21st and October 16th. are still in the planning stages. If you have a church that would be willing to allow us to present a Showcase at their church, please contact Cheryl or notify Wayne at 972-226-5902.

THIS JUST IN… As we go to press it appears that the GMAA has a church interested in hosting a big Fourth of July concert on July 3rd. Stay tuned for lots more info.

Pray for souls to be won and many spiritual needs to be met through this convention and our Showcases in 2010.

We'll see YOU at convention !!

Saturday, October 17th. 2009

LOTS OF GOOD INFO….

Your convention packets are in the mail, you should have them within the next 2 mail delivery days. SO, get busy on the nominating ballot since it must be returned in less than 2 weeks !
SHOWCASE EVENTS for 2010…. Yep, we are moving forward with five more of our highly successful showcase
dates for next year. Just today it appears that two of the dates have already been spoken for. We still need members to agree to host the showcase and provide the venue, such as your home church or another church where you have access.
THE DATES ARE” February 20th. (already taken) , April 17th., June 19th., August 21st. and October 16th.
The June date may be taken, we’re just waiting on a confirmation.

F.Y.I.- change to the Awards program at convention. Just so everyone knows, we are under a tight time constraint for the Awards banquet and program. The GMAA officers met back in the Spring and addressed how to streamline the program. As our list of songs submitted for ‘Song of the Year’ had grown and grown, it was becoming more and more difficult to include all of the songs in the program and still have time for the hotel staff to reset the room for the evening concert. SO, a motion was made, seconded and duly agreed to unanimously, that only the songs
receiving the TOP FIVE TOTAL VOTES will be performed during the awards program. Again this year, we have seven songs submitted. When your ballots are tallied, the independent agent who receives and processes the ballots will only add the songs on the final ballot and garner the top five cumulative votes. We want you to be informed of this so there will be no confusion as to why two of the songs are not presented during the awards program.
In case you are not aware, the Officers of the GMAA have no contact with your voting once the initial nominations have been received. We hire an independent agent to receive, tally and send the results to the trophy company. The trophy company prepares the awards, seals them in boxes and delivers them to the hotel in time for the awards ceremony. Thusly, we have no way of interfering with, altering or changing the outcome of your balloting. That’s the way we like it!
Ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille… As a true ‘Artist’, one must have a professional publicity photo. ( Don’t get me started on the unprofessional, amateur, weekend wannabe gospel singer who makes all of us look bad) There is NO excuse for being UN-professional when you are ministering for the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Your GMAA is currently working on a special benefit to your membership. It is quite possible that you will have access to
an outstanding photographer at convention. There will be a limited number of sittings available and this highly-awarded professional will provide you with a photo or photos at a very reasonable price. Please check back next week for more info. It’s called IMAGE and MARKETING, that is what separates the winners from the also-rans.

Fall is here! Greetings one and all. Well, here we are just a couple of days away from our final Showcase of 2009. It is going to be a blessing to all who attend. If you can, please make sure you get to Corsicana this Saturday night and support the GMAA and our Showcase participants. Congrats are in store for TRUSTING HYMN as they celebrated their ninth anniversary last weekend in Kaufman. Their concert also featured NEW DAY. It was an enjoyable evening and we commend Janie, Janet and Marilyn for all their hard work and dedication to the ministry God has placed in their hearts.
FACEBOOK… well, it worked for a few days then went haywire. (that is a technical term)
We had to remove it for a while to make some adjustments. Hopefully, it will return soon.
Member Directory is in the works. All GMAA members.. go now to the website and look on the Members page. IF you do NOT see your picture and contact information then you must provide us with those items immediately or you will be left out. It is our intention to have them ready by convention time.

Convention packets are being assembled and should be in the mail shortly.. keep watching that mailbox. Do not lay the envelope down and forget it since there are a few time-sensitive items contained. You do not want to miss some of those important deadlines. The packet will also include a CD of all seven of the songs submitted for Song of the Year. We will also have them loaded on our GMAA website. Pay close attention to everything in the packet.
Be sure to read and complete all of the various items that require your attention.

More great news for GMAA. This month we added the GMAA to the Facebook generation. We can thank our web-guru, Mr. Johnie Martin for hooking that up. If you have not gone and scoped it out, please do so. Our members ( and gospel music fans alike) will be glad to know that we have added a few new members over the Summer months. Please check your membership. The convention packets are mailed in October to active GMAA members only. If you let your
membership expire you will not receive the all-important packet. Cheryl has sent our notifications regarding Song of the Year submissions, so those should be sent NOW. We already have one submission in house at this time.

Congrats to TRUSTING HYMN as they are soon to celebrate their big 9th. Anniversary as a group. We’ll post more info about their upcoming concert to mark that event. I still need a few more 200 word articles from member artists to be included in our big special Convention newspaper. We need it quickly.. time is running out. Do you want to be included in this historic and monumental event? Well, time is wasting away.. get busy, write it and send it to me at my personal
e-mail :: waynedelk@ yahoo.com ALSO.. here is a bulletin.. we have added a surprise MYSTERY GROUP to the October showcase.. you better be there or you will be kicking yourself later !!

They have been wonderful. If you missed them, we feel that you missed out on some great singing, warm fellowship and some tremendous worship. Your hosts will be Southern Joy Quartet. Joining them will be The Hawkins Family from the great state of Arkansas and some of our newer members.. VICTORIOUS. The ladies were honored by the Southern Gospel News Scoops Diamond Award program with the coveted ‘ Sunrise Artist’ award. What a great honor to have receive so many votes. Carolyn Vaughn wrote to thank all of their wonderful, precious friends who honored them with their votes. This fantastic ladies trio is comprised of Carolyn Vaughn, Mary Manry and Mollie Lowery. Be sure to congratulate them when you see them. What they failed to tell the girls is
that the Sunrise artist winner can only sing at sunrise services. I think that is true, or I may have just made that up.
